Getting MTB specific
So, today’s ride featured some more MTB-specific work that I’m planning to incorporate into my build-up to 2017. It’s exciting and motivating to make advances in my preparations, and this is a benefit in itself.
Feelings were good after a MTB ride yesterday which focused on creating a loop much like a race, mimicking as close as possible a power file you get from an XC race. The only thing hampering me today really was a bruised hip from a silly crash yesterday. I washed out the front wheel whilst in my recovery interval and landed right on the bone. Painful, but not inhibiting the glute, so all good.
The specific intervals (over 500W) took it out of the legs today and fatigue became apparent after 2.5H of endurance stuff and two lots of threshold work, so I got back home nice and tired. It was certainly a sweat-fest today too, especially during the longer intervals.
The ride is here:
Grabbed some quick pasta and a nice refreshing banana smoothie before trucking it to York for a nice meal at all an all-vegan restaurant with Em. We sat outside in the dark (my bad call!) as it was a touch too hot inside. I had a burger with root veg chips and Em went for a paella, carrot patty and vegan chorizo mash-up, which was tasty. We’ll be back to try some other dishes.
Back home now and suitably tired. Two sessions planned for tomorrow, but will make a call on whether that happens based on the sensations an hour or so after getting up.
Ciao for now!
