Training on the sly
So, I’m taking some time off the bike and off my legs in general to get this knee issue fixed. Today is the first proper day where it feels a bit better, so I’m just continuing to do all the right things. With a bit of luck, it might be ready for the weekend!
In the meantime whilst I’m not doing regular training, I’m still working hard on core strength and muscle activation, which is really important to stay injury free and to be able to handle the bike well off-road. These workouts are about 45 mins long, and include simple but effective bodyweight exercises like planks, crunches, hip hikes etc.
I’ve also been sitting on the turbo for 30 mins at a time, spinning the legs in easy gears so as to keep the blood flowing to the tendon.
I’m unsure whether to start running again after this minor injury is healed now. It’s something I know will benefit my racing and overall condition, but it’s whether I can run consistently without risking further injury.
I’ll keep you updated either way! Time for today’s session…
